2022 Workshops

We are excited to offer an introductory workshop for anyone interested in learning to assemble and set up guitars with our necks! During this two day course you will be given your very own polished Aluminati neck plus all the tools and hands-on instruction you will need to build a highly functional one-of-a-kind instrument!

WE WILL ONLY BE TAKING 4 PEOPLE PER SESSION.  PLEASE CAREFULLY READ ALL OF THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE PURCHASING A TICKET.

Things we will be covering in the course:

  • Removing and replacing the neck
  • Setting the action on an Aluminati neck
  • Setting the intonation
  • Replacing hardware such as the bridge, pickguard, strap buttons, knobs
  • Soldiering and swapping pickups

Things we will NOT be covering in the course:

  • Fabricating original parts
  • Rerouting the electronics cavity
  • Crack repair
  • Fretwork
  • Refinishing
  • The dark secrets of how Aluminati necks are forged

During the course you will be given:

  • StewMac screwdriver and wrench set
  • StewMac string action gauge
  • StewMac radius gauge set
  • Allen Key set
  • Korg Tuner
  • Weller Soldering Iron
  • MusicNomad Multispanner
  • A shiny new Aluminati neck!
FOR THE COURSE YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST ONE GUITAR TO WORK ON. THIS CAN BE A VINTAGE GUITAR THAT YOU’VE BEEN MEANING TO REPAIR FOR A WHILE OR A CHEAP GUITAR YOU BOUGHT SPECIFICALLY TO MODIFY OR EVEN A BRAND NEW BODY FROM A BUILDER LIKE WARMOTH, JUST AS LONG AS IT IS ALREADY ROUTED, DRILLED AND FINISHED. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A PARTSCASTER WE CAN HELP YOU MAKE A SELECTION.

Things to keep in mind when selecting your partscaster body:

  • Must have an FMIC style neck pocket
  • Scale length must be 25.5” for guitar and 34” for Bass
  • Avoid Floyd Rose style bridges as our necks don’t have a locking nut
  • Avoid guitars with obvious cracks running through the body
  • Find a guitar that is already routed/drilled for the pickups and bridge you intend to use
  • Make sure to have all of your spare parts and strings ready before the class begins
